How to do it
Click Chrome so it is the focused app.
Press Shift + Esc.
Click the Memory column to sort.
Select the tab or extension and click End process. Ending a tab closes it.
On a Mac the same shortcut works while Chrome is focused. If it does not, use the Chrome menu > More tools > Task manager.
Questions people ask

The tab closes or shows a crash page you can reload. Save anything you typed first.
Is there a menu path?
Chrome menu > More tools > Task manager. Use that on a Mac if Shift + Esc doesn't work.
