Hide notification text on the Android lock screen

Choose show sensitive content only when unlocked, or show nothing.

How to do it

1. 01

   Open Settings > Security & privacy > More security settings > Notifications on lock screen.

2. 02

   If that row is missing, open Settings > Notifications > Notifications on lock screen.

3. 03

   Choose Don't show notifications, or show sensitive content only when unlocked.

You will still see that an app notified you, depending on the option. You will not see the message text from across the table. Lock the phone. The lock screen only helps if the phone is actually locked.
