How to find your Wi-Fi password
If any phone or laptop in the house has joined the network, the password is saved on it and you can read it off the screen. iPhone, Android and Windows 11 all show it in Settings, and most will hand you a QR code a guest can scan.
How to see your Wi-Fi password on a Mac
Open the Passwords app (macOS Sequoia or later), unlock it with Touch ID or your login password, and click Wi-Fi in the sidebar. Pick the network and the password is there, with Show Network QR Code for a guest's phone.
Use it when: Use it when a guest asks for the Wi-Fi, a new TV or printer wants the password, or you're setting up a phone and nobody remembers what it was.
How to find your Wi-Fi password on Windows 11
Open Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks, click the network and click Show (older builds say View) next to the Wi-Fi password. It works for any network the PC has joined before, and it also gives you a QR code a phone can scan.
Use it when: Use it when a guest needs the Wi-Fi, a new phone or TV wants the password, or you're setting up a printer and the sticker on the router is long gone.
How to see a saved Wi-Fi password on iPhone or Android
On iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the (i) next to the network, then tap Password. On Android, open the network in Wi-Fi settings and tap Share. You get a QR code with the password written under it.
Use it when: The password is already on a phone in the house. You do not have to crawl behind the router.
Questions people ask
Where's the quickest place to find it?
On whatever device is already connected. An iPhone shows it under Settings > Wi-Fi > (i) > Password, Android under the network's Share button, and Windows 11 under Manage known networks.
What if nothing in the house has joined the network?
Then it's on the router: the sticker on the bottom, or the admin page in a browser. If someone changed it and nobody remembers, a router reset puts the sticker password back.
Can a guest join without me reading the password out?
Yes. Android and Windows 11 show a QR code next to the password, and iPhones can share it to a nearby iPhone that's in your contacts.
